"Good morning, Mr. President," she said, stepping
forward and offering her hand, "Welcome to the White House."
Bella Swan is a strong willed woman with a take-no-prisoners
attitude. She’s worked her way
into the White House with pure talent and determination. It has landed her the
job as Press Secretary for America’s new president: Edward Cullen.
Edward Cullen has come from a family of political density.
It was just natural that he would one day run for the grandest job in our dear
nation. As a golden child I’m sure
it came easy, right? Wrong. At least to the public it looks clean, but we all
know that every politician has their dirty family laundry.
The story seems like it would be simple enough; both in the
White House, work closely, have wild monkey sex, fall in love. That’s what I thought before reading. Um, buzzer
went off because there happens to be one little problem… Bella hates The
President with a royal passion. And I bet the reason will shock you out of your
chair the same as it did me.
CourtRose is an
Australian author, writing about American politics. Yeah, made my head tilt too, but I was blown away by her
knowledge and dedication to American culture. Yes, Mr. President is told in the third person, which for the most
part is hard for me to get into. I never feel an emotional connection to a
story not told by the characters POV, but CourtRose
does a beautiful job of telling the story in third and yet giving us the in
depth view on Edward and Bella’s inner musings.
At just over the ten chapter milestone this story has
already set a high standard. I am hooked and checking my inbox regularly for an
update. I know if you give
it a chance you will be too.
